☸️
They do not follow the Dhamma who use violence to make a point or achieve their goal.
☸️
But those who can lead people without any notion of violence, and instead distance themselves from all evil, can call themselves protectors of the Dhamma.
☸️
Just because someone explains and speaks a lot, does not make him or her a wise person. Only those who are patient, free from hatred and fear, are wise.
☸️
You do not follow the Dhamma just by speaking about it. You must live in harmony with the whole Dhamma, even if you are not learned.
☸️
Gray hair doesn't automatically make you wise; a person can still grow old and remain unwise.
☸️
A true old sage is sincere in words, virtuous, lovely, controlled and pure in thought.
☸️
Relying on beautiful words or a beautiful countenance do not make the jealous, selfish and treacherous beautiful.
☸️
Only those who have banished such impurities from their minds and thoughts can be called beautiful.
☸️
Even if you shave your head, this does not make someone who is undisciplined, insincere and driven by desires into a monk.
☸️
Someone who has been able to extinguish all desires, large and small, is a real monk.
☸️
Begging for alms does not make a one bhikshu, to accomplish this, you have to follow the Dhamma completely.
☸️
Someone who is pious and out of reach of good and bad, who wanders the world without being attached to things, that is a real bhikshu.
☸️
Undergoing a period of silence does not automatically make someone mature, neither someone who is willfully ignorant into a sage.
☸️
A sage holds the scales and chooses the good and avoids the bad.
☸️
Someone who is not noble hurts living beings willingly. Noble people don't hurt anyone willingly.
☸️
Not by rituals nor by intentions, not by studying a lot nor by living celibately;
☸️
Not even through meditation can you find the supreme, the immortal joy of NIRVANA, before having extinguished your own self-will.
☸️
